Pugh: More than $1 Million Coming to Luzerne County for School Safety, Behavioral Health Improvements

HARRISBURG – Rep. Brenda Pugh (R-Luzerne) announced today that schools with students in the 120th Legislative District will be receiving money for behavioral health support for students and staff and to make learning environments safer.  

"I have heard school administrators say that limited funding prevents them from providing the mental health and behavioral supports students need,” Pugh said. “Investing in safe learning environments isn’t optional, it is essential for student success.”

The award amount for each school district is as follows:

  • Dallas School District - $206,548.
  • Lake-Lehman School District - $167,756.
  • Luzerne IU 18 - $70,000.
  • West Side CTC - $70,000.
  • Wyoming Area School District - $188,696.
  • Wyoming Valley West School District - $335.276.

The grants were approved through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s (PCCD) School Safety and Security Committee. The committee administers programs designed to improve school safety and security, strengthen behavioral health support, and provide training and technical assistance to schools across Pennsylvania.
